Sheila graduated from Guy’s Hospital UMDS (now known as Kings College London Dental Institute), in 1995. She has worked in general practice since, has gained experience in all aspects of dentistry, and has developed an interest in Oral Surgery.
She completed a Master’s Degree in Business Administration at Westminster University in 2004. This has enabled her to develop business acumen and apply this to the field of dentistry.
In 2012, she became inspired to do courses in facial aesthetics, and has completed a course in Botox and dermal fillers at the Dr Bob Khanna Training Institute in Reading. She is hoping to achieve the level 7 certification in due course.
Sheila then developed an interest in endodontics (root canal treatment) and therefore undertook the challenge of a part-time MSC at Warwick University in 2013. She attained the PG (Cert) level in 2014 and has recently accomplished the PG (Dip), with Merit. Her aim is to achieve the MSc level in 2018. During this course, she also developed the skills of using magnification and digital dental photography using a DSLR. This was required to produce her case work portfolio and is also necessary for bleaching and orthodontics cases.
In early 2017, Sheila completed an orthodontic course (Quick Straight Teeth), and is therefore now equipped to offer orthodontic treatment to suitable patients. One of the main advantages of this system over other similar courses (such as Invasilign and Six Month Smiles) is that this system utilises ceramic tooth coloured brackets, which in itself is more aesthetic.
In addition, she keeps up to date by completing various CPD in other dental related topics, such as tooth whitening, crown, veneer and bridge techniques, composite restorations and decontamination. She was the appointed practice decontamination lead (2011- 2015), and initiated and implemented the essential changes as outlined in the HTM-01-05. She ensured that staff also completed this essential training.
In her spare time, Sheila enjoys various hobbies, including cooking, cake decorating and sugar craft flowers, gardening, flower arranging and classes in Bharathanatyam (Indian classical dance).
